As Long as There Is Hope, Life Must Be Lived

Sometimes, in the times we live in, hope appears so distant and blurred that it stands on the horizon like a mirage. Yet even in such moments, it must be kept alive, and its light—however rare and fleeting—must be shared with others. For hope is not merely a personal feeling; it is a force that enables human beings to stand against injustice and gives society the strength to change.

From a psychological perspective, human beings live through meaning and hope. When individuals or societies abandon hope, they gradually fall into exhaustion, indifference, and withdrawal. Yet when even the smallest spark of hope remains, that spark can awaken the energy of resistance, creativity, and movement within us. This is why, even in the harshest periods of history, human beings have managed to rise again and continue the path of life.

From a sociological point of view, enduring the pressures of life is not merely an individual matter; it is part of a shared human experience. Throughout history, societies have faced crises, wars, inequalities, and immense pressures. What has made the continuation of social life possible is precisely this collective capacity for endurance, solidarity, and the preservation of hope. Hope does not mean ignoring harsh realities; rather, it means confronting them and striving to transform them.

Today, many of us live under the shadow of political tensions and wars. On the one hand, there is the conflict and rivalry between the Islamic regime and imperial powers; on the other, there are the economic pressures, propaganda, threats, and insecurity that such confrontations impose on the daily lives of ordinary people. This situation leaves deep psychological effects on society: anxiety, a sense of insecurity, emotional exhaustion, and a gradual erosion of hope. In such conditions, people often feel trapped between forces that represent neither the well-being nor the peace of society. Precisely at such moments, preserving hope and the ability to stand firm becomes even more important. For if people surrender to despair and indifference, the field becomes even more open for destructive forces to prevail.

Life has never been easy. Bad news, failures, economic and psychological pressures, and sometimes a profound sense of loneliness are all part of human reality. Yet withdrawing and abandoning the field only paves the way for injustice and cruelty to expand. Even in the most difficult moments, human beings find meaning in standing their ground and continuing forward.

For this reason, life must be lived—with all its hardships and uneven paths. One must endure pressures, search for a ray of light within darkness, and keep hope alive—even if it is fragile and small. Love, too, must be shared with others.

For in the end, a simple yet profound truth lies within all these experiences:

Yes, despite pain and inequality, despite bitterness and wounds, life is still beautiful—

beautiful because it still holds within it the possibility of rising again, of loving, and of changing the world.

Dedicated to a dear friend who, in these suffocating moments, is struggling with depression—

like the captain of a small wooden boat who does not release the helm in the middle of a storm,

because he knows that beyond these heavy waves, there is still a shore.
