I found myself at an exhibition where art, coffee, food and culture came together in one lively space. What made the experience especially interesting for me was its connection with Japan.
There was something immediately warm in the atmosphere. The traditional clothing, the care with which things were presented, and above all the smiles and friendly manner of the people made the encounter feel less like visiting an exhibition and more like being welcomed into a small corner of another culture.
What stayed with me most was not simply what was on display, but the human side of it: courtesy without stiffness, laughter without pretence, and a kind of hospitality that can make a stranger feel comfortable within minutes.
Perhaps this is one of the pleasures of living in London. Sometimes you travel thousands of miles to discover another culture; sometimes another culture comes to meet you just a few streets away.
