Toothache

When a Toothache Met Kindness — And Something Shifted Inside Me

It had been a long time since I truly took care of myself.
Even the pills my doctor prescribed sat untouched on the shelf.
I had let things slide — slowly, quietly, almost without noticing.

Then came that sharp, persistent toothache — the kind you simply can’t ignore, no matter how much you try.

I made the call, half-expecting a cold voice or a long wait.
But instead, the receptionist — warm, graceful, almost poetic in tone — offered me an appointment right away.
It was a small gesture, but it meant something.
A gentle reminder that maybe… not everything is broken.

When I arrived, I didn’t just walk into a dental clinic — I walked into kindness.

Dr. Mehta, calm and grounded, carried the wisdom of her father and the clarity of someone who hasn’t lost their honesty in a weary world.
Her assistant — gentle hands and a quiet presence — worked with the grace of someone who knows healing isn’t just about tools.

Together, they treated my pain.
Not just the pain in my tooth — but something deeper.

Strangely, I didn’t feel hurt.
I felt seen.
As if the real medicine was how they treated me — with care, respect, and quiet dignity.

I walked out feeling a little lighter.
Not just because the pain was gone,
but because something inside me had softened too.

To the whole team — from the kind voice on the phone to the gentle hands in the chair — thank you.
You didn’t just fix a toothache.
You reminded me what compassion can do.

Many thanks to Dr. Mehta, Parvy, and Rebecca — the wonderful team at Maygrove Dental Practice.
